Some more Mid-Major credibility...

The SIU Salukis broke into the Top 25 this week following a win at Wichita State. They make their debut at number 20 in the ESPN/USA Today rankings and 21 in the Associated Press poll.

SIU will play 10th ranked Butler in the headline game of the ESPN Bracketbuster series on February 17th.

I know that the Butler game will be huge, but I hope the Dawgs don't look past Creigton this saturday. By the way, I'VE GOT TICKETS TO THAT GAME!!!!!

I'm not excited or anything, you know.

hey man, now that the Dawgs just won their bracketbuster, How high do you think they will be ranked? If they finish out the season well and win the MVC tourney, do you think they can get a 3 seed in the big dance?

Abe and I were talking about this last night. I think they could break into the top 10 with the road win against Butler. The last Bracketology I saw had them a 5-seed in the St. Louis bracket. The ever-lingering issue is does the MVC even WANT the Salukis to win the conference tournament? Looks like some of the "lock" teams from last year (Bradley and Wichita State) are going to need some help this year; a tourney title, maybe?
